Late last week, we reported the possibility that Google may soon be offering mp3 tracks for sale through its Google Music app thatâs currently in beta. The Music app is currently severely limited, and the rumored upgrade would make it some sort of iTunes for Google. Now, Andy Rubin has confirmed this move at the AsiaD conference in Hong Kong.
Google has been working on signing up major music labels for the move since 2010, but troubles that arose kept the Google Music app as a locker instead of a store. Problems in that area still persist, but Rubin believes that Google is âalmost there,â whatever that means. Aside from confirming the music store, Rubin also says it comes with a âlittle twist,â which weâre guessing means it wonât work exactly like iTunes, and thereâs a different feature in there somewhere. What do you think Google Music Storeâs âtwistâ is? And when launched, would you use it?
